Authors who believe that an editorial decision was made in error may submit a formal appeal to the Editorial Office. Appeals should include a clear explanation and any supporting evidence. Authors submitting an appeal should:
Explain the reason for the appeal.

Submit the appeal within a reasonable time.
The Editorial Office investigates all complaints and appeals fairly, objectively, and confidentially. Where procedural errors or ethical concerns are identified, appropriate corrective action will be taken in accordance with COPE and ICMJE recommendations. The decision made after completion of the review process shall be considered final.
