Abstract

The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered conversational systems has significantly transformed educational environments worldwide. Among these innovations, ChatGPT has gained widespread attention due to its ability to generate human-like responses, assist with academic tasks, provide personalized learning support, and facilitate knowledge acquisition. This study examines the impact of ChatGPT on academic learning outcomes, focusing on student engagement, critical thinking, academic performance, self-directed learning, and educational equity. The article explores both positive contributions and potential concerns, including academic integrity, overreliance on AI tools, misinformation, and ethical considerations. Evidence suggests that ChatGPT can enhance learning outcomes when used appropriately as a supplementary educational tool. However, successful integration requires institutional guidelines, digital literacy development, and responsible AI usage policies. The study concludes that ChatGPT represents a transformative technology with significant potential to reshape future educational practices.
